The Weeknd’s Sales Shoot After Super Bowl Halftime Performance! The Weeknd has experienced a huge boost in streams after his stunning performance at the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. Performers on show usually experience phenomenal increases in their overall sales and streams.  In addition, the artists usually earn a career milestone as one of the most influential musical acts of the time. Last year, Jeniffer Lopez’s streams went up by 335 percent whreas Shakira’s shot by 230 percent. The Weekend has experienced almost similar increases, reportedly by seeing an increase of close to 400 percent in overall song and album catalog sales.

According to Billboard, the hit-maker  experienced the sales shoot on Sunday directly following his performance. It was noted that there was an additional 36,600 copies of his catalog sold, an increase of 385% from the 7,500 sold the day before.

His song sales sky-rocketed  by 454 percent over the same period as his album sales increased by 138 percent. Out of the total sales, the halftime-closing song “Blinding Lights” accounted for 29% of the new sales. 

7 of the songs  performed during the show have also gained entry back into the top 10 region of the iTunes charts. “Blinding Lights,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “Save Your Tears,” take the top 3 positions, while “I Feel It Coming,” “Starboy,” “Earned It,” and “The Hills,” round out the top 10. The only other 3 songs in the top 10 include Cardi B‘s “Up,”  Olivia Rodrigo’s “driver’s license,”  and Tom MacDonald’s “Fake Woke.” 

A day after the performance, the rapper reflected on the career-defining moment. “still buzzing from last night,” he said on Instagram. “i couldn’t stop smiling the whole performance. thank you [Pepsi, the NFL, and Roc Nation] for believing in me to bring a fresh new take on the halftime show. XO we did it !”
