Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” Certified Platinum Nine Months After Release

After years of collaborations on scattered singles, Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR finally joined forces for a full project. On February 14, 2025, the duo dropped $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, a 21-track blend of Toronto R&B and melodic hip-hop. The Valentine’s Day release turned into one of the year’s biggest streaming events.
The album opened with 246,000 units sold in its first week. In a time when rap sales have cooled, those numbers stood out. The debut landed at number one on the Billboard 200, marking PARTYNEXTDOOR’s first and Drake’s 14th chart-topping album. That tied Drake with Jay-Z for the most number-one rap albums in history.
Nine months later, the record is still performing well. It sits at number 28 on the Billboard 200 and has now been certified platinum by the RIAA, meaning it has sold one million units in the United States.
Several tracks have also earned new certifications. The hit single “NOKIA” has reached double platinum status, while six others—“CN TOWER,” “SOMEBODY LOVES ME,” “DIE TRYING,” “GIMMME A HUG,” “SOMETHING ABOUT YOU,” and “SPIDER-MAN SUPERMAN”—are now gold after selling over 500,000 units each.
The success arrives at a mixed time for Drake. He has recently been named in two class action lawsuits alongside Adin Ross and Stake for alleged predatory gambling. He has also been linked, though not charged, in Spotify’s ongoing investigation into artificial streaming practices reportedly involving accounts tied to Snoop Dogg’s cousin, RBX.
Despite the controversies, Drake continues to add to his legacy. His only Grammy nomination for 2026 is for Best Melodic Rap Performance with “SOMEBODY LOVES ME.” The song faces strong competition from “luther,” “WeMaj,” “Proud Of Me,” and “Wholeheartedly.” $ome $exy $ongs 4 U shows both artists in sync, offering the kind of slow-burning R&B and mood-driven production that first defined the OVO sound. Its continued chart presence and platinum milestone confirm that Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR still have a firm grip on the sound they helped create.
