DaBaby Releases New ‘My Brother’s Keeper (Long Live G)’ EP Dedicated To His Late Brother
the 2019 XXL Freshman, DaBaby releases his latest offering. My Brother’s Keeper (Long Live G) features seven songs and has guest appearances from Meek Mill, Polo G, NoCap and Toosii. The EP, in commemoration of his late brother, G, is filled with personal reflection on his views and emotions following the tragic loss of his brother.
On the intro track, DaBaby reflects on the memories he has with his older sibling:
You was the oldest so you got it first. I was the baby so I got it easy. Remember us cussin’ and fightin’ in church. Knowin’ damn well that as soon as we leave. The look mommy gave us, knew we was gettin’ hurt. One hand on the wheel and the other one swingin’. Get hit in the mouth, okay, momma, I’m bleedin’, Jesus. Bruh, I been hurt, ain’t had no feelings since we lost you. Feel like a prisoner of my mind, no one to talk to. Never let depression go unchecked, that shit’ll cost you. Baby bro gon’ walk down on any n***a ever crossed you.
DaBaby only officially announced the project an hour before its release, sharing the cover art on Instagram, a day after previewing a track from the project. “LONG LIVE MY BIG BROTHER ? ? #MyBrothersKeeper (LongLiveG)-From Baby Bruh to you. The cover for the project shares a throwback photo of DaBaby and his brother, Glen Johnson.
