Monica dropped a new single ahead of her anticipated Verzuz battle with Brandy. The new song she has dropped is produced by the legendary group The Neptunes, the song also features Atlanta rapper Lil Baby.
The song “Trenches” is a new sound that one can first hear from Monica since her 25 years in the music industry. The song is to feature on the songstresses upcoming album. In the song Monica is heard seperating the real from the fake and she is surely repping her “gang”.
The 40 year old singer is head singing “Baby, when the hype get cold/Superficial people in your life get ghost. I’ll go down in history being real/Never square/Never played the victim and I probably never will/I just wish that you was here”.
Monica took to Instagram to share that she has always dreamed of working with the Neptune’s. She admires their ability to stay timeless and also their bond and brotherhood. She finally got to work with them on the single “Trenches”.
This years marks the singers ‘Miss Thang’ album hitting its 25th year anniversary. She is now working on her forthcoming album which will also be titled ‘Trenches”. The album will mark the return to he roots as she dropped her last album ‘Code Red’ 5 years ago in 2015. Brandy and Monica had a successful Verzuz battle that was watched by millions of fans last night and Monica’s fans are surely thrilled about her new music.
