Biggie’s Plastic Crown Sold For Nearly $600K. The iconic crown which was worn by late legend rapper Notorious B.I.G. has just been sold in an auction for just nearly $600 000. The crown is seen as a great treasure as it was worn by the rapper in his last photo shoot.
Biggie‘s plastic crown which he wore in his last photo shoot has just been sold in an action for $594,750. The crown was displayed at Sotheby’s for the Inaugural Hip Hop Action. The auction took place yesterday on Tuesday the 16th of September 2020.
The crown was worn by B.I.G. when he was photographed by Barron Claiborne in 1997 as the King of New York. The original price of the plastic crown was $6 and now it has been sold for over hundred and thousand times more. The photo contact sheets and prints form the session were also sold for over $300K.
The Sotheby’s Hip Hop auction also featured other treasured items such as a one of a kind Def Jam Recordings jacket, a triptych of pioneering DJs painted by Fab 5 Freddy and Judith Leiber’s crystal-encrusted handbag inspired by a boombox.
The crown was advertised just a week ago for potential buyers to come to the auction and buy it. The price of the crown went higher as the prices of the buyers kept going higher. Information on the buyer of the crown is yet to be revealed.
