Xzibit has officially revealed the tracklist for his long-awaited album Kingmaker, marking his grand return to music after more than a decade. The follow-up to 2012’s Napalm is set to drop on May 16, boasting an impressive 20 tracks and a lineup of heavyweight guest features.
The West Coast legend has enlisted longtime collaborators Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Redman, Busta Rhymes, Cypress Hill’s B-Real, and Royce Da 5’9” to help bring his vision to life. In addition to these iconic names, Kingmaker also bridges generations, featuring contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Symba, JasonMartin (formerly known as Problem), Domo Genesis, and Guapdad 4000, among others.
Adding to the album’s significance, Kingmaker will be released through Greenback Records, the label recently launched by MMA superstar Conor McGregor. This new imprint has already made waves in the Hip Hop industry, partnering with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and signaling its intent to make a lasting impact on the genre.
The album’s release has been delayed multiple times, with Xzibit explaining that last-minute additions extended the timeline. In an interview with NME, he addressed the project’s lead single, “Play This At My Funeral,” clarifying that while the title may sound grim, the song itself is deeply personal. “It sounds morbid, but the song isn’t about death. It’s a snapshot of where I am mentally, physically, and emotionally,” he explained. “Some finite statements are made in there. I wanted to show people where I’ve been, what I’ve been doing, and answer those lingering questions.”
Reflecting on his return, Xzibit emphasized his unwavering passion for music. “This is what I do best. I’ve been involved in film and TV, but music is the catalyst for everything,” he said. “I’ve been recording on and off for over a decade, but I wasn’t hearing what I needed. When I finally did, I knew it was time.”
With Kingmaker, Xzibit isn’t just making a comeback—he’s reclaiming his rightful place in the rap game. Best known for classics like “B*tch Please II,” “Multiply,” and “What You See,” he has also made a name for himself on the silver screen, starring alongside Ice Cube, Terrence Howard, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. As anticipation builds for Kingmaker, fans can expect a project that blends Xzibit’s signature grit with a fresh, modern sound, proving that his influence in Hip Hop remains as strong as ever.
