The Weeknd Teases Releasing “Magic” He Recorded During Quarantine

The Weeknd Teases Releasing “Magic” He Recorded During Quarantine! After releasing his chart-topping After Hours album in March 2020, it appears quarantine has inspired The Weeknd enough to record an entire new project.

The Toronto hit maker took to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning (April 27) to share his thoughts about the music he’s apparently been recording while in quarantine. The singer sent out all his five tweets over the course of around 30 minutes and it all started with a Bugs Bunny GIF.

“what is real?” he tweeted. “made so much magic in the small quarantined room. nothing’s ever random. now just piecing it all together… it’s so beautiful.”

Back in September 2020, The the Toronto sensation announced the possibility of releasing another album at the end of quarantine. However, that statement was pretty vague considering the fact that nobody knew exactly when the world would be going back to normal.

“I might have another album ready to go by the time this quarantine is over,” he revealed at the time. “I’m guilty of wanting to outdo my last album, but it’s never like, ‘I’ve got to do the same type of song.’ I’m so happy I’m not like that. My palette is so wide.”

Considering his asthmatic condition, The Weeknd made sure he took extra precautions since the pandemic struck. He  limited the number of people to work with including photographer Nabil Elderkin and affiliates from his XO label, with COVID-19 tests being carried out every two weeks.

Earlier in the month, The singer announced he’d be giving a donation of $1 million to Ethiopia to provide food amid violence in the country.

“My heart breaks for my people of Ethiopia as innocent civilians ranging from small children to the elderly are being senselessly murdered and entire villages are being displaced out of fear and destruction,” wrote the singer. “I will be donating $1 million to provide 2 million meals through the United Nations World Food Programme and encourage those who can to please give as well.”
