Azealia Banks Ignites Social Media Storm With Engagement Announcement! Controversial rapper Azealia Banks is officially off the market. The outspoken star flaunted her new ring on Instagram on Monday (Feb. 22nd), announcing her engagement to branding guru and conceptual artist Ryder Ripps. She further revealed that they are planning to wed. She went further to suggest that she had converted to Judaism – her new fiancé’s faith.
“I’m crying,” she wrote. “I’m Jewish now. MAZEL TOV B######! WE IN HERE… YERRRRRRR.”
Ryder also shared a similar image of his fiancée’s hand to his Instagram page.
News of her engagement comes just weeks after the “212” hit-maker made headlines for digging up her dead cat and boiling the body, claiming it was part of the process of taxidermy, which she has an interest in.
Trouble started after a follower told her she needed to convert to Judaism to become Jewish. The “212” hit-maker fired back by sharing transphobic remarks. In the midst of multiple comments, Banks said transwomen “are just hot gay men” and went further to compare gender affirmation surgery to “castration”. Society, she said, does “mental gymnastics” to validate transpeople before concluding: “Cis women don’t exist. There are women and then there are transwomen [sic].”
Her comments immediately drew criticism, so much that it prompted Pose star Angelica Ross to call out Banks for the “trash that comes out of her mouth”.
Banks has courted criticism in the recent past for her comments on trans-people. While Banks once sought to raise awareness for the rising violence against transwomen in 2020, she later got suspended from Twitter for her graphic rant against gender affirmation surgery.
Backlash brewed on prompting Banks to once again, comment on transwomen. Wondering why “can you chop ur c**k and say ur a girl, but I can’t catch the Jewish nut and be Jewish?”
Fans took issue with her comments as the feud brewed on Twitter, with many people accusing Banks of transphobia.
