Cardi B Becomes First female Artist To Win Songwriter Of The Year Twice In A Row. Cardi B is the first female artist in history to win Songwriter Of The Year twice in the row, for both 2019 and 2020.

On Wednesday the 15th of July 2020 Cardi B was a big winner at the 2020 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. She took the Songwriter Of The Year award for the second time around. She was honoured based off her songs ‘Money’, ‘Please Me’ and ‘Ring’.

Other winners in the hip hop genre are DaBaby for the song ‘Suge’ for Top R&B/Hip Hop Song and Meek Mill featuring Drake ‘Going Bad’ won Top Rap Song. Both songs reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

The Rhythm & Soul Music Awards celebrate producers, creators and publishers who are behind the biggest songs through 3 genres, being R&B, hip hop and gospel. ASCAP is the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. ASCAP held their Pop Music Awards in June 2020 and ‘Sucker’ by the Jonas Brothers won song of the year.

The award show was hosted virtually due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The official photographs and acceptance speeches of the creatives who have received awards will soon be available on social media.
