Travis Scott UTOPIA Reference Tracks Leak Reveals Kanye West Contributions

Travis Scott is widely recognized for his ability to create a unique “vibe” rather than for intricate lyricism. Over the years, his collaborations with Kanye West have helped shape his sound and introduced him to mainstream audiences.

Recently, new reference tracks from Scott’s UTOPIA era surfaced online, revealing 15 recordings featuring Kanye West on various tracks from the album. The leaked material includes notable tracks such as the Beyoncé-assisted “Delresto” and “Big Champ,” an unreleased Roddy Ricch single. According to Vault Of La Flame on X, all recordings were made in May 2020.

Despite these contributions, West does not appear on the final version of UTOPIA. Earlier this year, he told Akademiks that Scott had taken four songs from one of his Wyoming sessions and replaced him without warning. Fans previously noted similarities between Scott’s UTOPIA tracks and West’s earlier work, including elements reminiscent of Yeezus, an album Scott helped co-produce. The leaked reference tracks now provide insight into the creative process behind the album.

The leak highlights the complex relationship between Scott and West. While Scott frequently praises West and credits him as a key influence in his career, West’s recent public remarks have been less complimentary. This dynamic has left fans speculating about potential future collaborations.

Scott recently released JACKBOYS 2, his second compilation album with his label, in July. Details about his next solo project remain unknown, but anticipation is high. While West’s contributions to UTOPIA were substantial in the studio, another official collaboration between the two artists does not appear imminent.

The leaked reference tracks underscore Scott’s creative approach and the behind-the-scenes influence of West on his music. Fans and critics can now better understand how Scott’s signature sound has been shaped by his work with West, even when the legendary rapper does not appear on the final releases.
