JID Confirms God Does Like Ugly Album Release Date, Tracklist, and Tour Details

Atlanta rapper JID has officially unveiled new details about his upcoming studio album, God Does Like Ugly, slated to drop on August 8. The project will feature 15 tracks and is already generating major buzz among fans and critics. According to the NFR Podcast, the full artwork for the album’s original cover has also been revealed, adding even more momentum to the highly anticipated rollout.
The announcement follows a unique promotional stunt where JID invited fans to Washington Square Park in New York City for a surprise appearance. There, he handed out pamphlets containing messages tied to the album’s themes and announced a “Dollar & A Dream” tour with stops in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York. The concerts will reportedly have minimal ticket prices to make the experience more accessible—continuing JID’s tradition of connecting directly with his listeners.
Fans on social media are already calling God Does Like Ugly one of the most compelling album titles in recent memory. “One of the greatest album titles I’ve heard in years. Especially tied in with the messaging. Real substance on the way,” one fan wrote on X. Another highlighted the packed August release schedule, noting: “Damn we’ve got Clipse, Freddie, JID, Joey, Raekwon and Tyler all in a one month span.”
JID first teased God Does Like Ugly in May, shortly after releasing his introspective single “WRK.” In a post on X, he reflected on the creative headspace that led to the album’s formation. “Starting this new journey coming off The Forever Story has been a very strange, productive, yet tedious process,” he wrote. “I remember not feeling like I got what I think I deserved after that album came out and it sent me into a dark place (for maybe 20 mins cuz I ain’t no b—h).”
That dark period was short-lived but creatively pivotal. JID continued, “Fast-forward to Pluss playing this beat for me in the studio and all I could hear was my OG coach saying, ‘Let’s go to WORK.’ I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control…and it’s f—kin UGLY.”
To keep momentum high, JID dropped the GDLU (Preluxe) EP on July 4th, a teaser for what’s to come. The four-track project includes high-profile collaborations with Lil Yachty, 6lack, and even Eminem, setting the tone for an ambitious new era in his artistry.
With a powerful message, a global tour, and a growing list of heavy-hitting collaborators, God Does Like Ugly is shaping up to be one of the most defining hip-hop releases of the year. All eyes are now on August 8 as JID prepares to take his sound—and message—to the next level.
