NBA YoungBoy Fans Get a Release Date for Slime Cry After Delay

NBA YoungBoy fans can finally breathe easier as the Louisiana rapper has confirmed a release date for his highly anticipated project, Slime Cry. According to a now-deleted Instagram Story, the album is set to drop this Friday, January 16. The post featured a live countdown reading three days and 15 hours, signaling the rapper’s commitment to finally delivering the project.

The album’s release has been surrounded by uncertainty. Initially, YoungBoy promised Slime Cry would arrive on November 28, 2025, coinciding with Black Friday. Fans were disappointed when the date passed without a release, and the rapper left supporters in the dark for nearly a day. While he did not provide a full explanation, he attempted to reassure fans with cryptic posts. One read, “Oh you want my album I forgot, Loading…,” followed later by, “5ive I’m the sickest, You ready ??”

However, optimism faded in early December when YoungBoy appeared to cast doubt on the project’s release. In another Instagram post, he wrote, “Slime cry I don’t think loading,” sparking speculation that the album might be delayed indefinitely or even canceled.

Despite these setbacks, the January 16 date has renewed excitement. Releasing the album this week aligns with rap’s first “New Music Friday” of the year, a strategic move for visibility and impact. The timing also positions YoungBoy alongside other high-profile releases, such as A$AP Rocky’s comeback album, Don’t Be Dumb, which ends nearly eight years of silence.

Slime Cry will mark YoungBoy’s first project since his August 2025 mixtape, DESHAWN, a 13-track release hosted by DJ Khaled. Prior to that, he dropped Make America Slime Again in July and a 20-track compilation, More Leaks, in March. These releases have solidified YoungBoy’s reputation for consistent output despite personal and professional setbacks.

With the release date confirmed, fans can anticipate a significant moment in YoungBoy’s career, adding Slime Cry to a series of successful projects in 2025. The album’s arrival this Friday promises to reignite conversation around the rapper and his evolving sound.
