Nas Joins De La Soul’s New Album With Feature on “Run It Back!!”

Nas is adding another high-profile feature during his “Legend Has It” run, this time on De La Soul’s forthcoming album, Cabin In The Sky, set to drop later tonight. The East Coast rapper appears on track 11 of 20, titled “Run It Back!!,” delivering a guest verse that pays tribute to today’s standout artists and honors hip-hop history.

A sneak peek obtained by HipHopNMore highlights Nas referencing the evolution of the charts: “Since the 80s, 90s and 00s? How it was sick, how did it slip? / Now it’s just Doechii, Dot, and SZA with most powerful hits / Leon Thomas, Shaboozey… only black artists on top the charts.” The verse nods to modern trailblazers like Doechii, Dot, and SZA, as well as rising stars Leon Thomas and Shaboozey, recognizing their impact across rap, R&B, and country music.

Nas has previously praised Dot (Kendrick Lamar) during interviews in 2025, calling him a “North Star” in hip-hop and one of the brightest talents in the genre. This appearance on De La Soul’s album reinforces his role in bridging classic and contemporary hip-hop while celebrating emerging voices.

Cabin In The Sky is De La Soul’s first album since 2016’s And the Anonymous Nobody, and it will be one of the final projects released under Nas and Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It series. The series, announced in April, has featured collaborations with hip-hop icons including Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Mobb Deep, showcasing veteran MCs and their continued relevance.

Nas and DJ Premier’s long-awaited collaborative album will cap off the series, arriving December 12, following the release of the single “Define My Name” in April 2024. The collaboration with De La Soul highlights Nas’s commitment to honoring the legacy of hip-hop while amplifying the next generation of artists.
