Theo Croker Links with IDK and Sector 202 on New Single “My Friend”

Theo Croker has unveiled his new single “My Friend,” featuring IDK and Sector 202, a seamless fusion of jazz and rap that highlights the Grammy-nominated trumpeter’s genre-bending vision. The track will appear on Croker’s upcoming album Dream Manifest (Deluxe), set to drop October 24 via Dom Recs.
“My Friend” blends Croker’s sharp trumpet work with IDK’s reflective lyricism, agile flow, and smooth vocal delivery. The DMV rapper confronts heavy themes with precision, taking aim at media manipulation and systemic injustice. “They put they foot on Ye’s neck for the Yeezy / If I told the truth you wouldn’t believe me / I tried to tell the truth but you wouldn’t receive it / Because the media’s controlled by the ones that don’t need it, so deceiving,” he raps, before shifting into raw commentary on police brutality.
The release is paired with a polished visual directed by Slim. The video juxtaposes cinematic shots of IDK roaming Los Angeles with Croker performing on his trumpet, reinforcing the song’s balance of grit and artistry.
Dream Manifest (Deluxe) will serve as Croker’s 12th full-length release. Alongside IDK and Sector 202, the project is set to feature contributions from Theophilus London, Nosajthing, and anaïs, broadening its sonic scope. A press release describes the record as an exploration of “connection, chaos and creativity across genres,” a mission Croker has consistently embodied throughout his career.
The deluxe edition builds on the foundation of Dream Manifest, originally released in June. The album marked another milestone in Croker’s catalog, weaving together jazz, hip hop, and electronic textures. It is now available on vinyl for the first time through Fat Beats, giving fans a tangible way to experience the music’s layered depth.
With “My Friend,” Croker, IDK, and Sector 202 offer a track that is both socially aware and musically adventurous. The single underscores Croker’s ability to expand jazz’s possibilities while inviting rap’s sharpest voices into the fold, setting the stage for Dream Manifest (Deluxe) to stand out as one of his most ambitious projects yet.
