Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist Raise the Bar with Alfredo 2 in 2025 Hip-Hop Race

The competition for the best hip-hop album of 2025 just intensified with the release of Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist’s collaborative album Alfredo 2. Critics praised the project on arrival, and the numbers back up the acclaim.
Alfredo 2 debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 37,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Of those, around 14,000 were pure album sales, including physical vinyl copies, according to HITS Daily Double.
This marks the biggest sales week for both artists. They narrowly surpassed the original Alfredo’s 31,000 debut in 2020. The new album also outsold Freddie Gibbs’ previous top seller, $oul $old $eparately, which had a higher chart debut at number 11 but sold fewer copies.
The results match Freddie and Alchemist’s sales projections closely. The success reflects the quality of the album and the strong fanbase they have built.
Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist will hit the road soon for the Alfredo 2 tour. Starting September 20 in Philadelphia, the tour will visit major cities like Texas, Florida, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland. The tour wraps up November 9 in San Francisco. While The Alchemist will not attend all shows, special guests MAVI, Jalen Ngonda, and Sven Wunder will join the lineup.
Despite some drama around the album’s release, Alfredo 2 has been well-received by fans and critics alike. It stands as a major contribution to 2025’s hip-hop landscape. The coming months will show how it holds up commercially and culturally. Fans will be eager to see what Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist deliver next.
