Cardi B Faces New Lawsuit Over 2023 Las Vegas Microphone Incident Amid Album Release

Cardi B is currently facing a fresh legal challenge stemming from an incident that occurred during a 2023 performance in Las Vegas. According to TMZ, an anonymous woman has filed a lawsuit accusing the rapper of assault and battery after Cardi allegedly threw a microphone into the crowd, hitting her in the process.

The lawsuit claims that Cardi B asked the audience to throw water on her to cool down during the show. When a fan near the plaintiff threw water at Cardi, the rapper reportedly became enraged and threw her microphone toward the crowd. This moment was captured on video and quickly went viral across social media platforms.

At the time, local police investigated the incident but decided not to press charges. Despite that, the legal complaint now alleges physical harm caused by the thrown microphone.

The timing of the lawsuit comes as Cardi B prepares to release her highly anticipated sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, scheduled for September 19. The album announcement came last month, marking seven years since her debut album dropped in 2018.

On Instagram, Cardi reflected on the journey leading to the new project:

“Seven years, and the time has come. Seven years of love, life, and loss, seven years, I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell. I learned power is not given; it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers and no more tears, I’m not back; I’m beyond. I’m not your villain; I’m your karma. The time is here. The time is now.”

Am I The Drama? will include fan favorites like “Outside,” “Up,” and the blockbuster hit “WAP.” Cardi recently addressed criticism over including “Up” and “WAP” on the album, despite their original releases in 2021 and 2020. On X (formerly Twitter), she explained:

“WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home.”

As Cardi B continues to dominate charts and headlines, this lawsuit adds another chapter to her complex public life. Fans and critics alike will be watching closely as both the legal case and Am I The Drama? rollout unfold in the coming months.
