Timbaland & Swizz Beatz Haven’t Met In Real Life Since Verzuz’ Launch! As COVID-19 became a reality, many people slowly began to accept it as such and many states and cities put measures in place issuing quarantine measures. With many people confined to their homes with little to do, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz chipped in, in a bid to offer a solution.
As things would ultimately turn out, that solution was the Verzuz series, a friendly battle whose intent was to showcase the legacies and discographies of hip-hop and r&b’s most celebrated figures.
Since its launch on March 24th with a maiden head-to-head match, Verzuz has since risen to become a household name. However, despite how gargantuan Swizz and Timbaland’s brainchild has grown, boasting a grand total of 24 battles so far, the pair haven’t actually met in real life since the launch of Verzuz. Timbaland took to Instagram and shared the interesting factoid. “Fun fact me & @therealswizzz haven’t seen each other in person since Verzuz started,” he wrote, juxtapositioned with a FaceTime picture of the two production legends.
“Crazyyyyy,” Swizzy, wondered sliding into the comments to share his thoughts about the weirdness of the situation. Given the many times the duo used to link up, before the pandemic, it’s difficult to imagine that Swizz and Timbaland were still able to launch a successful verzuz series and straight-up experience entirely through digital. The Instagram Live competition and celebrations has been a way to bring the music culture together to celebrate artists as well as black music.
