It was a move lauded by many people who had the view that it was a game-changing move but that was not the case for some people. Power actor Michael Rainey Jr. took to social media to give his opinion on the situation, deeming Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, the founders of Verzuz “sell-outs” for the move.  “Can’t ever jus have something of our own it’s always bout the money,” he shared in one post. “Cool move but these n***as still sellouts,” he added in a subsequent post.

It didn’t take Swizz and Timbaland long before sharing their responnse. Swizz commented under @hollywoodunlocked’s Instagram post, “But we own triller,” alongside a shrugging and laughing emoji. “We own everything tell who done that,” Timbaland added.

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’ comments reportedly found their way to Rainy who admitted that it was “cool” the two producers offered performers an equity stake. He however still maintained that VERZUZ would’ve remained totally owned by them.

The reportedly lucrative deal sees Timbaland and Swizz Beatz become key shareholders in the Triller Network. The deal has left many confused as to what the it actually entails as further details about the exact terms weren’t given.
