Big Sean Explains Why He Now Wishes He Had Not Made His Hit Single “IDFWU”! In 2014, Big Sean released his hit single “IDFWU” which made the Billboard Hot 100 and many other charts.
The hit single also made headlines for who it might have been directed at. “IDFWU” was released not long after Big Sean’s public breakup with the late actress Naya Rivera whom he was engaged to. Speculations were that the rapper was talking about Naya in the song.
Following Naya’s death in July 2020, fans brought the song up when Big Sean paid his tribute to his ex fiance on Instagram. In a recent interview with New York Magazine whilst promoting his new album, Big Sean explained the song and how he feels about it now that Naya passed on.
“She knew about it, and she liked it. We had a breakup that was very public, and we were young and we forgave each other and moved on from that. If I would have known something this tragic would have happened, I would have never made the song,” Big Sean said.
“She’s made such an impact on people, and she’s done so many great things in her life and her career that it was hurtful to even have that [song] be associated with her,” he added.
