Eminem Drops New Song In Response To TikTok Campaign That Tried To ‘Cancel’ Him

Eminem Drops New Song In Response To TikTok Campaign That Tried To ‘Cancel’ Him! Eminem has released a new song in what appears to be a response to a TikTok campaign that tried to “cancel” him. The 48-year-old rapper released an animated lyric video for his 2020 single “Tone Deaf” which features images of disgraced figures like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein – a typical antagonistic Eminem fashion. This becomes the latest #canceleminem movement that has brought forth a divide between Millennial Eminem fans and the younger Gen Z (people born between the mid-1990s to the early 2010s) critics.

In the lyric video, Eminem quotes the lines of his own song: “I won’t stop even when my hair turns grey (I’m tone-deaf) / ‘Cause they won’t stop until they cancel me.”

The #canceleminem clash dates back to last month, when one TikTok user, who has since been banned on the app, uploaded a short video from the 2010 Eminem and Rihanna song, “Love the Way You Lie.” The user highlighted the line, “If she ever tries to fucking leave again, I’m a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire.” The user captioned his video post, “Yesssss lets cancel him.” According to critics, the “Love the Way You Lie,” 2010 single, makes light of domestic violence.

The initial post went viral Since then, reigniting an age-old debate about the artistic value of Eminem’s controversial lyrics especially in this era of heightened sensitivity. Posts related to the #canceleminem hashtag hit an approximate 3 million views as of Monday. A closer look at the videos reveals that the hashtag has now been taken over by Eminem’s fans who are in defense of the rapper. Many of the fans highlight the fact that Eminem has always remained controversial and that the Gen Z campaign is nothing new.

One follower on Twitter tweeted, “Im technically from Gen Z but trying to cancel Eminem is absurd in my eyes this man has amazing music that has really helped me when I hit mental lows.”

Another user said, One of the best animated lyric videos I have ever seen. Amazing work. You’re a legend. One of the best to ever do it and doing it.”
